Dr. Brandon Stapleton: Elevating Digital Dentistry with Asiga
As a prosthodontist and the owner of iDENTity Dental Studio and iDS Smile Lab in Lexington, KY, I’ve always been passionate about precision, efficiency, and delivering the best possible outcomes for my patients. My journey into digital dentistry began in 2017—two years after opening my practice—when I took the leap into 3D printing with a 3Shape Trios, Asiga Max, and 3Shape Dental System. Little did I know that decision would be a game-changer for my practice and my patients.
Very quickly, I realized that one printer wasn’t enough to keep up with our needs. We added a second Asiga Max, and now, we run three of them daily. Along the way, our office and lab doubled in size, and our business tripled. What’s remarkable is that Asiga has been with us every step of the way—its firmware updates have kept our printers relevant, improved print speeds, and allowed us to scale without missing a beat. With the next generation of Asiga printers on the horizon, I’m already looking forward to adding another to our collection.
“From the beginning, I never considered another 3D printer brand. I had the opportunity to work with a world-class company that was already partnered with Asiga—the only reseller in the U.S. at the time. Seeing so many other dentists struggle with 3D printing only reaffirmed my decision. By starting with the best, I saved time, money, and frustration.”

Transforming Patient Care Through Innovation
At iDS Smile Lab, we use our Asiga Max printers for a variety of applications, including surgical guides, temporary crowns and bridges, All-on-X prototypes, custom trays, dentures, hollow obturators, night guards, and more. One of the most transformative aspects of our workflow has been the ability to provide 3D-printed hollow obturators for patients as they heal and adjust to their new normal. These are significantly lighter and offer superior retention, improving comfort and functionality. The ability to produce these in-house means we can offer quick turnaround times without compromising quality.
The Power of Materials and Workflow Efficiency
One of the standout features of Asiga is its extensive resin library. We take full advantage of this flexibility by using dedicated resin trays for different materials, allowing us to switch between them quickly and efficiently. Some of our go-to materials include Rodin Titan for our All-on-X prototype prostheses and Lucitone 3D for our 3D-printed dentures. The ease of working within Asiga Composer software makes setting up prints a seamless process, and my team can handle most of the printing and post-processing with minimal oversight.
Looking Ahead
3D printing has played an undeniable role in our success, and Asiga has been at the core of that journey. As our business continues to grow, I know Asiga will continue to evolve with us, offering the speed, reliability, and quality we need to push the boundaries of digital dentistry even further. The future is bright, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
