About the Author
Chesco Díaz has been working in the jewellery sector for more than 25 years. He began as a conventional jeweller, until 2002, when he changed his career path towards new technologies: first as a jewellery designer and modeller in Xavier del Cerro’s workshop; and since 2006, providing his services to different companies in Spain and the USA.
Since 2009 he has been teaching 3D modelling courses in institutions such as the IGE, JORCG, Centro de Artesanía de la Xunta, and different companies such as Tiffany’s NY, Fossil, Tous, etc.
His knowledge in the field of 3D printing also stands out. Since 2009 he has been linked to resin printing, receiving different training courses in Italy (DWS) and Germany (Asiga). Chesco Díaz knows the main casting processes, and his tireless search for new printing materials and new printers leads him to visit the main international fairs in the sector: Vicenza Oro, JCK Vegas.
The Barcelona Collection represents a modern evolution in Spanish jewelry by blending traditional artistry with cutting-edge technology, such as 3D modeling and precision gem cutting. Created by jeweler Chesco Díaz and gemologist Egor Gavrilenko, the collection is deeply inspired by Barcelona’s architectural heritage, including the works of Gaudí and the city’s iconic wrought iron and tilework. By utilizing advanced tools like Rhino SubD for organic modeling, MatrixGold for parametric adjustments, and Asiga 3D printers for high-precision manufacturing, the creators achieve complex, custom designs with high efficiency. Gavrilenko further innovates with 3D scanning for virtual faceting, allowing him to plan precise cuts for irregular rough crystals. Beyond its technical innovation, the collection serves as a symbolic tribute to influential Barcelona jewelers of the 1990s, aiming to reclaim jewelry as a form of wearable art and personal expression.
