This in-vitro study highlights the impressive progress of 3D-printing technology in capturing the natural beauty of dental tissues. By evaluating five advanced hybrid resins, FREEPRINT Crown, VarseoSmile TriniQ, VarseoSmile Crownplus, V-print C&B Temp, and Saremco print CROWNTEC, researchers demonstrated how these materials work to mimic the life-like fluorescence of a natural tooth. Using a precise photographic protocol and the CIELab system, the study provides a valuable roadmap for clinicians to select materials that enhance aesthetic integration, ensuring restorations look vibrant and natural under various lighting conditions.
The results are particularly encouraging for certain brands, as FREEPRINT Crown and VarseoSmile Crownplus emerged as top performers with the lowest colour difference values, showing a strong ability to approach the natural fluorescence of human teeth. While the study notes that there is still room for innovation to reach a perfect match, it emphasises that these 3D-printed resins represent a major step forward in oral rehabilitation. By identifying the most mimetic options available, this research empowers dental professionals to make informed decisions that lead to more realistic, high-quality aesthetic outcomes for their patients.
